Rhythm X
news

The 2010 season is
literally right around the corner! In preparation
for the audition weekends, please be aware of all of the
following important notes:
- The dates
of the auditions are Sunday, October 4th and Sunday,
October 25th.
- Both days
of auditions will be held at Kettering Fairmont High
School at 3301 Shroyer Road, Kettering, Ohio 45429.
- The
audition material can be purchased
here for $15.00 (In
the 'To:' entry box, please use rhythmx@insight.rr.com) . The response time should
be fairly quick, within 24 hours most times, but PayPal occasionally provides us with processing
delays. Paying the $15 for the materials ahead
of time will drop your balance of payment for the
audition fee down to only $50. If you purchase
the materials at the audition - we will have limited
hard copies available - your cost will be a total of
$70 ($55 audition fee and $15 packet). Please
note that not 'requiring' the packet DOES NOT drop
your audition fee down to $55. If you did not
pay for the materials in advance, your fee will be
$70.
- If you
have not yet filled out an audition application, or
have done so but received no response from Rhythm X,
please take the time to fill it out again
here. Not
only will you receive a response email with
important information, but we will have you in our
system come audition time!
- If you
choose to pay your audition fee through PayPal that
is completely acceptable. The charge would be
a total of $65.
- If you
have any questions or concerns, please contact us
ASAP and we will hurry to take care of your issue!

be broken into two blocks of auditions; the day's
schedule is as follows:
9:00 -
Registration
9:30 - Auditions
12:00 - Lunch
1:30 - Auditions
4:30 - Clean Up
5:00 - Dismiss
The battery
spot auditions will include evaluations of the following
technical abilities:
- Sound
Quality
- Chops /
Endurance
- Learning
Curve
- Marching
Technique
- Foot
Timing
- Body
Articulation
Please note
that the vast majority of detailed evaluation will go
into your physical movement abilities.
The audition
materials have been released recently for the intent of
putting all auditioning parties on the same level of
potential preparation. All previous members must
re-audition for their spots, and almost all the exercise
material is brand new to the 2010 season.
A few notes
about the exercises:
- PLEASE DO
NOT WORRY ABOUT HOW MANY NOTES THERE ARE TO LEARN!
The educational process during the auditions is
designed to teach methods of playing music and
learning music. There will be music stands
readily available, as much of the material is rather
labor-intensive from a memorization standpoint.
- If you
were to prioritize your preparations, this is the
order of importance for familiarity with exercises
(and their respective target tempos): 1)
Three - 200 2) Flowal - 116 3)
Thrown - 190 4) Decaying - 190 5)
Flams - 140 6) Loose - 196
Again, if you
have any concerns please contact us asap!
Good luck
preparing, we look forward to seeing everyone soon!
