Executive Director
Craig
has been teaching percussion in central Ohio since 1993,
and has instructed as the director
of percussion at Westerville South, Fairborn, Olentangy Liberty, and Olentangy
Orange High Schools. Prior to
leading Rhythm X to an Independent Open title in 2002, he led Westerville
South to five Winter Guard International regional championships, and two bronze medalist
finishes at Winter
Guard International World Championships. Craig developed Rhythm X upon his departure from Westerville South
to offer the performing experience to kids from all over the Midwest.
Since its inception, the group has truly developed into
more than he could ever have hoped. Craig has been on the WGI Percussion Advisory board for
many years, and is also a member of the Drum Corps
International adjudication team.

Andrew Markworth
Ensemble Director
/ Music Director / Arranger

Andrew has been involved with Rhythm X since 2003. He started
as a member of the snare line from 2003-2005 holding the position of
Ensemble Leader in 2004 and 2005. Since 2006 Andrew has been
arranging for the front ensemble as well as the battery, and has
been a member of the administration team since 2008. He was a
member of the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2001 and 2002,
holding the position of percussion captain in 2002. In 2004,
he was a member of the DCI World Champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle
Corps. Andrew has also arranged and composed for the following
groups: Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2007-present),
Centerville High School (2002 - present), Crossmen Drum and Bugle
Corps (2008) as well as many others. Andrew lives with his
wife Kara in Centerville, OH.

Program Coordinator / Visual Designer
Tim is the Percussion Director for Centerville (OH)
High School,
a perennial Bands of America Grand Nationals finalist. His
Centerville Scholastic World percussion ensemble has performed in WGI finals annually since 1998, winning PSO in 1999. In 2000
they jumped to PSW, taking the Gold Medal in 2004 and the Silver
Medal in 2005, placing 5th in 2006 and 2008. Tim is a member of the WGI Board of
Directors, serves on the Percussion Advisory Board and Steering
Committee, and is currently the Vice President of the MEPA Circuit,
heading the Percussion division.
Tim has guided Rhythm X creatively since 2003,
placing 3rd in 2004, 2nd 2005 and 2006 and winning the Independent
World Championship in 2008. He was also an integral part of
the WGI Educational DVD "The Visual Buzz" and is currently the
Program Coordinator
for The Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. As a
performer, Tim was the percussion section leader for the 1996 DCI
World Champion Phantom Regiment. Tim has been a member of the
DCI Judging Team and also has judged with MEPA, CSJA and SCPA.
Tim is an internationally in-demand designer, clinician, consultant
and judge.

Tim Jackson
Ensemble Caption Head /
Battery Arranger
Tim began his
drumming career at the age of ten studying rudimental, drumset, and keyboard percussion. He has since marched with the Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2000), the Crossmen (2002), and The Concord Blue Devils (2003-2006). Jackson won honors as the PASIC Multi-Tenor champion in 2005, and the DCI Individual and Ensemble Multi-Tenor champion four consecutive years from 2003 to 2006.
He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from The Ohio State University, with a
minor in Philosophy.
Tim has performed with Rhythm X since its inaugural season in 2002, winning one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal within the last six seasons of WGI competition.
He played his last notes as a performer aging out in the 2007 season. Tim
has recently concluded his second season on percussion staff with The Concord Blue Devils, winners of the DCI Fred Sanford Award for High Percussion in the summer of 2007.
In 2009, Tim will serve as the Battery Coordinator for the Bluecoats
Drum and Bugle Corps. He has been a part of the Rhythm X design team since the World
Championship season of 2008. For the past five years, Tim has
provided private instruction to students in the central Ohio area. He
has also instructed, consulted, and provided clinics and master classes
across the nation, as well as Western Europe, Korea and Japan. |
Ryan Kilgore
Front Ensemble Caption Head
After
graduating from Thomas Worthington High School in 2001,
Ryan began study at Rutgers University, pursuing a
degree in Percussion Performance. Over the next
four years, he studied closely under marimba virtuoso
She-e Wu, achieving his Bachelor of Music in the spring
of 2005. Ryan continued his studies at
Northwestern University under the instruction of Michael
Burritt. There, he received his Masters degree in
Music in 2007.
Ryan marched with the Bluecoats
Drum and Bugle Corps in 1999, and is currently teaching
the front ensemble with the corps. His individual
accomplishments as a percussionist include first place
in 'America's Concerto Competition', highest ranked
American in the Paris International marimba competition,
and a selection to represent the United States in the
fifth annual World Marimba competition, held in
Stuttgart, Germany. Currently, Ryan teaches
privately in Columbus, Ohio. He also instructs at
Central Crossing High School, Grove City High School,
and Dublin Coffman High School.
James Sparling
Quad Guy

James
Sparling received his degree in Music Education with a
minor in Architecture at Miami University. While
at Miami, he performed with nearly all possible
ensembles. He has been heavily involved in the
world music ensemble, Global Rhythmx, where he served as
Percussion Coordinator and Arranger (2004-2006_.
This ensemble has led him to perform and work with
Grammy winners Glen Velez and Jamal Mohammed, Ghatam
Khartick's heARTbeat, Musafir, Jeff Queen, Michael
Burritt, Anthony Cirone, Indian film composer A.R. Rahm,
Nelly Furtado, and Lenny Kravitz.
James
has taught privately for several years, and is currently
teaching marching percussion with Carroll High School,
Centerville High School, The University of Cincinnati
alongside Nick Angelis, and serves as a Director of
Percussion at Bellbrook High School/Middle School.
He marched tenors with Trinity Indoor Percussion
Ensemble (2000), Music City Mystique (2001, WGI World
Champions), Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps
(2001), Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2002), and Rhythm
X (2003-2004). In 2002, James was a part of the
Colin McNutt marching clinic at PASIC. He served
on the percussion staff for the Glassmen (2003), the
Madison Scouts (2004-2006), the Carolina Crown
(2007-2008), and currently works with Spirit of America
(2006-present) as visual designer and the Cadets (2009).
He has been a beloved member of the Rhythm X staff
family since the 2004 season.
Joshua Brickey
Snare Technician
Josh
began his competitive percussion career with Hilliard
Darby High School in 1999. He was a member of Trinity
Indoor in 2000, competing in Independent World Class.
He furthered his performance career as a snare drummer
for Rhythm X in 2003, aging out in 2006. Josh was a
member of Carolina Crown in 2004, and The Bluecoats Drum
and Bugle Corps in 2005.
Aside from instructing at
numerous central Ohio schools, Josh has spent the summer
of 2007 touring with the Bluecoats, and the winter of
2008 instructing the snare section at Rhythm X. He
currently resides in Columbus, Ohio.
David Isaacs
Snare Technician
David
has been involved in music since he could talk -
singing, studying piano, concert and marching
percussion, and playing drumset. His snare drum career
started at age 14 with Ryle High School in Northern
Kentucky. His experience then continued to Capital
Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in 2003, Madison Scouts
(2005), and Rhythm X (2007-2008). He has been a private
piano instructor for almost a decade, and teaches
percussion at various high schools in the
Central/Eastern Kentucky, and Cincinnati areas. David
is currently teaching at Shelby County High School (KY),
arranging/teaching at Bourbon County High School (KY),
and teaching at William Mason High School (OH). He is
also Production Designer for DrumSpirit Percussion
Ensemble (Belgium). David has been warmly welcomed
into his first season instructing with Rhythm X.
Ryan Lamb
Bassline
Instructor
This
will be Ryan's third season on percussion staff with
Rhythm X. He is on the instructional staff for
Centerville High School, working closely with both fall
and winter season programs.
Ryan was a marching
member of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in the
summers of 2004 and 2005, and has been on percussion
staff with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque,
Iowa. He was also a part of the WGI silver
medalist ensembles at Rhythm X in 2005 and 2006.
In the spring of 2007, Ryan received his Music Education
degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and is
currently a band director in the Middletown City School
District.
Diaz Clark
Cymbal Line Educator
Diaz
is currently completing his Masters Degree in Nursing at
Troy State University. Mr. Clark earned his B.S.
in Nursing and his B.S. in Psychology from Jacksonville
State University. His marching experience
includes: Spirit of Atlanta (1981), Suncoast Sound
(1984-1985), and the Jacksonville State University
Marching Southerners (1982-1984). He has
instructed with numerous groups within the marching
music activity, such as Suncoast Sound (1987-1989),
Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps (1993), Magic of Orlando
(1994-1998), the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps (1999-2001),
Lassiter High School Marching Band from Marietta,
Georgia (2001-2002), the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps
(2002-2004), and presently with Kennesaw Mountain High
School Marching Band from Kennesaw, Georgia.
Rhythm X has been proud and fortunate to have Diaz as a
part of the education team since his first season in
2005.
Joe Eck
Cymbal Line Technician
Currently
residing in Dayton, Ohio, Joe is working on completing
his Bachelors Degree in Music Education at Wright State
University. Joe is on the visual and Brass staff
for the Centerville Jazz Band, from Centerville, Ohio.
He teaches both the fall marching band, trumpet
ensemble, as well as the 'World' and 'A' class winter
drumlines. Joe has also worked with the Bellbrook
High School Marching Band since 2005 and their
Scholastic Open class medalist Indoor Drumline in 2006.
Joe marched with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in
2004 and the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in
2006. Joe was a marching member of Rhythm X in
2007, and this will be his second year on staff with the
group.
Samantha Cope
Front Ensemble Technician
Sam
Cope began her percussion career with Kings High School
of Kings Mills, Ohio. She went on to become a member of
the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps front ensemble in
2006 and 2007. With the Bluecoats, Sam performed in the
2007 Percussive Arts Society International Convention
marching percussion clinic. Sam was also a member of
Rhythm X in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
In the summer of 2009, Sam will be
teaching with the Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle
Corps. Sam currently teaches the Kings High School and
Bellbrook High School marching bands. She also teaches
percussion lessons privately in the Cincinnati and
Dayton area. Sam recently graduated from Miami
University in 2008 with a degree in English Education.
We are pleased to announce Sam's continued involvement
and dedication to the success of Rhythm X, in her first
season on staff.
Matt Hahn
Front Ensemble Technician
Matt
is currently a student at Miami University, and plans to
graduate in December of 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in
Music Education. He is currently the front
ensemble technician for the Centerville Jazz Band and
the Centerville "A" and "World" drumlines, and has been
since 2006. He also has worked with the Bellbrook
High School marching band (2005) and indoor drumline
(2006, 2008), and also with the Carroll High School
marching band (2007-2008) and indoor drumline
(2007-2008). He was on front ensemble staff with
the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2008 season.
Matt has taught private lessons in the Dayton area since
2005.
Matt graduated from Centerville
High School in 2004 and participated in both the
marching band and the indoor drumline. He was
front ensemble section leader from 2003-2004 including
the 2004 PSW Championship season. Matt became a
member of Rhythm X in the 2005 season and continued
through the 2008 season, serving as front ensemble
section leader from 2007-2008. He was also a
member of the front ensemble for the Bluecoats Drum and
Bugle Corps from 2006-2007 and participated in the 2007
PASIC marching percussion clinic. Matt is very
excited for his first year on staff with Rhythm X.
