Robby Buetow

Front Ensemble

Robby Buetow is a graduate of Butler University with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. He graduated from Butler in 2021 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in music at Indiana University.

During his time as an undergraduate, Robby played in the Butler University Percussion ensemble, as well as the Butler Symphony Orchestra where he served as the principle percussionist for the BSO in the (2019-2020) school year. He has also performed with Colonel Michael Colburn in the Butler University wind ensemble when the band was featured at IMEA in 2019. In the 2020-2021 school year Robby was given the award of Butler Percussion Ensemble Member of the Year.

Robby currently works at Avon High School as a front ensemble technician. In his time at Avon, the drumline has received a gold medal in the Indiana Percussion Association World Class State Championships, as well as a gold medal at the Winter Guard International in World Class during the 2022 season. Robby also teaches at the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, beginning in the 2022 season when the percussion section won the Fred Sanford Best Percussion Award at DCI Finals.

Robby Buetow was previously a cast member of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (2017-2021) and Rhythm X (2018-2022). In his time at Bluecoats Robby toured the United States, where he received a Bronze Medal at DCI Finals in 2018 and a Silver Medal in 2019. In both 2017 and 2018 Robby was awarded the high honor of Top 12 Members of the Bluecoats and in 2019 was awarded Performer of the Year. At Rhythm X he placed second at WGI finals in 2018 and 2022, and in 2020 was a featured performer for Rhythm X in their special program entitled “CrashyBongo.” Robby was given the award of Rhythm X Member of the Year in 2022.
